Privacy Statement for KoyaQuest

The KoyaQuest app is free and intended solely to be informative and enjoyable for its users.

While it does use GPS to provide information about the user's location in relation to points of interest around Mount Kōya and to trigger various challenges, no location information is collected, recorded or shared.

No user other information of any kind is requested or used by this app. (Players who complete the 12 Challenges are invited to submit their scores to a public leader board, but anonymous "usernames" may be used instead of real names. No email addresses nor any other personal information is collected, recorded or shared.)

In a word, this app does not collect or use anyone's personal information; location is monitored only during the use of the app for the purposes of guidance and game play. Location data is not recorded.

Disclaimer

The KoyaQuest app offers two primary functions.

It is both a game and an interactive guide to Mount Kōya.

Both functions are designed to be used by actual visitors to Mount Kōya.

This is especially true for the games. While the guide features can be accessed from any real world location, the challenges -- which are triggered by GPS coordinates -- can only be enjoyed on the mountain.

Acknowledgements

Special thanks go to Edmundo Gonzalez, Jr., veteran Japan photographer, for permission to use several of his photographs of Mt. Kōya.

Appreciation is also given to the Kongōbuji Shūmu Sōchō Kōshitsu 金剛峯寺宗務総長公室 for permission to use the Koyakun© mascot as well as a photo of the inside of the Tōrōdō Latern Hall.

Finally, a shout out to Professor Kaizu Ichirō of Wakayama University for the use of his replica of a samurai warrior's armor and helmet for the filming of the ghost of Uesugi Kenshin.
